Community Events - 2024

Each year, our members and friends return excitedly to PFLA in part for the sense of community fostered over the decades and the chance to be together again at the Beach, the Center, Social Hall and the Falls.

The 2024 season brought the PFLA community together, as always, for a wide range of social events and spiritual communion, while also affording members and their guests ample opportunity to enjoy peaceful solitude and natural beauty.

In the pre-season, our focus was on cleaning up and preparing the grounds, including the annual Garlic Mustard Pull, to rid our property of this and other invasive plant species.

Memorial Day Weekend brought our “soft opening,” complete with the first servings of ice cream in the Tea Room and a guided stream walk in Paradise Stream with Trout Unlimited.

Opening Weekend featured the opening picnic and the launch of the raft in Lake Crawford.

The annual PFLA Olympics were held on July 4th weekend, with games including the traditional tug-of-war and Lake Crawford rubber duck race. And what better way to cap off the weekend than with a lobster boil on the beach?

We didn’t just lounge and sunbathe on the shores of Lake Crawford (although we did plenty of that), we practiced yoga on Saturdays and worshipped outdoors on Sunday mornings. We hosted a pig roast. We sang and danced along with a band on the Beach, and savored the tasty morsels from the food truck. We marveled at the wildlife, including bald eagles, blue herons, and snapping turtles.

As the summer began to wind down, PFLA members came out for the annual yard sale, where one family’s cast-offs became another family’s treasured new finds.

Closing Weekend brought our traditional candles-on-the-lake ceremony. Another beautiful summer in Paradise!

Luckily, the fun continued post-season with PFLA Oktoberfest and the first-ever (sure to be repeated) Fall Festivus.
